New things

Its been two for about a month. Two pets between three kids. You may think that this makes little difference. To most kids it might. Not mine. Lucy, my parents dog, was claimed by my youngest son when we lived with my parents. When we moved out we left her. All Mr. Steel has done is beg for Lucy to come and live with us. Do I want to take my parents last fun thing? Do I want yet another dog to hang about the house being needy. NO.
While I was visiting a friend and her goats, nearly a moth ago, I came across a pretty little barn kitty. Mostly grown up. I am not much for cats, but this one was special. About a month later I decided that he was the one for us. April said yes and we picked him up yesterday. We took him home to be mauled by the kids for the rest of his life. He is probably thinking that catching mice in the barn was way better...especially since Mr. Steel named him Charlotte.  Pictures to follow!

Books and things

Greg purchased an I-pod for my Christmas present this year. Having music around is so enjoyable. One forgets the joy it brings to mundane tasks. The other thing this little device is capable of is downloading audio books from the library. Who knew? One simple application later and I am listening to books without ever leaving the house. The first book I chose was a Teri Blackstock. She writes fairly good mystery books. It was called Emerald Windows and it was NOT a mystery. No murder and almost no suspense were waiting in the pages. It was a very bland, slightly preachy romance. Of course not until I was into it several chapters did I realise no one would die. Last night I finished it. Actually I fell asleep to it and woke up not missing much. The last book I enjoyed was the Hunger Games. Since then I have been muddling though mediocre fiction with holes all over. Its time to return to a classic. The kids are listening to me read 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. That will do.

So much for promises!

Well here it is Thursday and I have not posted much at all! There are fun things to tell though. Here it goes. First the kids attended their first Awana's night at the local church. They absolutely LOVED it. Even Thomas, who hates crowds, was found having fun. Greg and I didn't know what to do with ourselves for 1 1/2 hours.  I am sure we will figure it out by next week.
My girl finally has a bed. It sounds terrible but for the last two years she has been sleeping on a pull out couch and the floor. There just has not been the room space. Now that we are moved back to our old house we ran to IKEA and got the bed I had been drooling over for months and months. Its so classy! And a new mattress to boot. Now all I need to do is finish the quilt that I started last year. Me distracted??? HA!
Thomas is 6 today. I will spare my readers the sentimental jargon. Oh, I DO feel sentimental, but for your sake I will keep it to myself. All I can say is, I marvel every day at what a wonderful gift God gave me. Greg and I stashed his gift in December. It is an AT-AT. For all those non-star wars fans, its walker vehicle that is aptly nick named the dog walkie.
Homeschooling is going well. Mostly because we haven't had all our curriculum. I am waiting on a spelling and English book for my girl. I still don't know where God will lead us as far as school this next year.
Greg is loving a shorter commute. He drives a maximum of 20 min. to work every morning. It has been nice to have him home before 10:00am too.
Well that is all I have for now. The sun is shining and I have my girl next to me needing a snuggle...desperately! Have an awesome day.

mamagriffith Give away!

Its time for another give away! My fingers just love to knit and it produced this lovely little cardigan made for the average 2 year old or a skinny 4 year old. All you have to do to be entered to win is leave a comment! My lovely daughter and assistant will draw names on the 12th. Good luck and happy Valentines day!

Cheery Cherry trees

Not everything is moved. Not even close. The kids are all stuffed into one room while Greg does flooring and we are in the front room until the trim gets put on. All in all its has been good. My mom tipped me off to a tree sale at Costco so we rushed off and bought three. Who doesn't need more fruit trees right? As I was digging holes to put them in I made a rediscovery. Our yard is sand. No not sand mixed with dirt. Just plain sand. I had forgotten! What am I going to do with three trees??? Well, plant them in the sand! After stealing some potting soil out of our small herb garden I plopped the cherry trees into their new homes. It would be sad if they died. But hey at $10 a tree, whats wrong with a little arbor experimentation!

Tomorrow till whenever

Tomorrow we are moving back to our house. We have all we need for the coming month and more. Where DOES all this stuff come from?! The rest will be picked up here and there. The reason I didn't come and say good bye to everyone is because it doesn't feel like its really goodbye. My parents still live here, I will still come and visit and to be honest who likes to say goodbye? Who does? Not me! The word its self feels like a giant pair of scissors cutting a string. Plus, since I will be void of all friends and family, blogging will happen more frequently. Even my grammar and spelling could improve....don't hold your breath though. For now I say, "See you, here, there or in the air!" And thanks for all your support!
