Backpacking trip

Nearly a mile into the hike a rock investigation turned into a broken finger. Perhaps its better that the picture space is used up. You might even be thanking me for not exposing your eyes to a 10 year old girl's pinky going the wrong direction. Tomorrow we see the pediatric orthopedist.
As for the backing trip, the two hours our family spent in the woods proved refreshing. My girl kept hiking like a champ. She plodded out holding her damaged hand up with very few tears. Mr. Steel fought disappointment more than the rest of us, it being his birthday trip. He recovered in time to hug and sympathize with his sibling. Rain or shine, I love my family.

Is it for real?

I couldn't help myself. Regardless of the complete lack of picture space and frustration this causes me, I am blogging. Why? Because very soon we are embarking on our first backpacking trip of the season and I had to tell someone.
Our couch is covered in gear, camp food, and sleeping bags. You might have guessed the house is a total disaster. Does this bother me? NO!...okay I lied a little there, it does bother me. But it won't when we are trekking through unexplored (by us) territory, creating memories that will last throughout the kids lifetime.
Last year I printed off a shutterfly book. The kids like to see pics of themselves having fun. It gets them in the mood for the next year. It worked so well Mr. Steel, the youngest, made a hike his birthday wish. Hence the fact we are going regardless of spring "snowshowers."
So, stay tuned for the happenings of our trip in next weeks edition of Mamagriffith blogs again!
